What the organization posted
Wind players perform required etudes listed for their instrument plus a chromatic scale: two octaves, in eighth notes at quarter note = 120, ascending slurred and descending articulated. Starting pitch is assigned by instrument - concert F for alto saxophone, baritone saxophone and English horn, concert E-flat for French horn, and concert B-flat for all other winds. Percussion prepare three set pieces: Mitchell Peters, Advanced Snare Drum Studies, etude 12 (measures 1-23 and measure 44 to the end); Beth Gottlieb, Masterworks for Mallets, J.S. Bach Cello Suite No. 3 Gigue, pages 60-61 (measures 1-48); and Nick Woud, Symphonic Studies for Timpani, etude 25. All required etudes must be submitted. The requirements document states no sight-reading component. Participation fee is $80.
