Assign the work between lessons

As of 2026-09-06, a teacher can create a free account, invite students to a private roster, assign scales, exercises, and repertoire, and review practice history. That history includes streak, practice time, repetitions, and completed-work summaries. Students can save a final take for their own review. You hear an assigned take only after the student shares it. The product does not generate a complete performance score from that recording.

That sharing rule is load-bearing. Saved is not shared. If a student never taps share, you still have the practice history and you do not have the audio. Teach that to families on day one so nobody is surprised.

What is not in the current release: a practice plan drafted from a recorded lesson. That path is planned for v1.1; not released as of 2026-09-06. The teacher commercial you may have seen is that preview. Do not buy, assign, or promise from the film. Use the live assignment tools, or wait. A release alone is not cohort acceptance.

How I would run the live tools with a small studio this month:

• Make the teacher account. It is free, permanently.
• After applicable consent, school, and access checks, invite 3 to 8 students you already see every week. A private roster, not a school CSV. An optional try of the current manual workflow is not a recorded-lesson cohort.
• Pick one focus for four weeks. Chair audition, solo and ensemble, region etudes, or one method-book unit. Not five shows at once.
• Assign the actual work: the scale, the exercise, the excerpt. Put the metronome marking in the assignment so they are not guessing 72 or 96.
• Tell them the tuner, metronome, and drone live in the same place as the assignment, on iPhone.
• Before the next lesson, open the history. If a take was shared, listen once. If it was not shared, teach from the history and the playing in front of you.

Virtunity owns the measurable layer: time, rhythm, and pitch as the student works the assignment. You still own tone, phrasing, and whether the excerpt sounds like music. The app does not replace that part of the lesson.

A focused-practice pilot is that shape with a 15-minute check-in with me each week for four weeks. Your name stays off public pages unless you say otherwise. As of 2026-09-06 I do not have a verified operating cohort to quote, so I will not.

Pricing, said once, because it trips people: students pay $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, one tier, first month free. Billing begins with the v1.1 release this fall. Teacher accounts stay free. A covering school license is a different product from First 5 Notes Classroom. Four weeks on a pilot does not create a fresh free month and does not reset a trial. Check the actual account dates before anyone enrolls. The founding lifetime-free window closed 27 August 2026. I will not invite new students to beat a paywall.
