What the organization posted
Live audition, open to grades 10-12, registered online by the sponsoring teacher at rimea.org/allstate. Three components. First, a required solo assigned by instrument for 2026-2027: flute plays J.S. Bach Sonata in Eb (International); oboe, Nielsen Fantasy Pieces for Oboe Op. 2 (Alfred); clarinet, Weber Concertino Op. 26 (Carl Fischer); bass clarinet, Bennett Deepwood (Carl Fischer); bassoon, Mozart Concerto in Bb mvt. 3 Rondo (International); alto saxophone, Creston Sonata Op. 19 (Shawnee); tenor saxophone, Singelee/Voxman Solo de Concert (Rubank); baritone saxophone, Hoffman Serenade Basque (Alfred); trumpet, Ropartz Andante & Allegro (Carl Fischer); horn, Mozart Concerto No. 3 mvts. 2 and 3 (Carl Fischer); trombone, Guilmant Morceau symphonique (Alfred); baritone/euphonium, Vaughan Williams Studies in English Folksong #1, 4, and 6 (E.C. Schirmer, treble and bass); tuba, Marteau Morceau Vivant. Second, memorized scales: all major scales, at least two octaves where possible, at quarter note = 60 in an eighth/sixteenth-note pattern, plus a chromatic scale in eighth notes at quarter note = 60 over a range stated per instrument (for example flute C over three octaves, clarinet from E below the staff to G above the fourth line, all saxophones low Bb to F above the staff, trombone and tuba Bb over two octaves). Third, sight-reading appropriate to the grade level. Alto clarinet is not accepted in any All-State performing ensemble.
Notes
Audition fee $25.77 online or $25 by cash/check per student per audition; participation fee $92.78 online or $90 by cash/check. RIMEA also runs a Junior Division (grades 7-9) under the same posting with its own requirements document, and percussion, jazz band, and classical guitar have separate audition documents on the same hub page (https://www.rimea.org/allstate) - percussion, for example, uses Sartini Snare Drum Etude #4 and Forsthoff Auxiliary Percussion Etude #2. The senior wind procedures document carries an 'Updated 8/20/26' stamp on the hub page.
