What the current page describes
The adjudication-process page is undated and reads as standing policy. Auditions are timed: 10 minutes for non-percussionists, 15 minutes for percussionists. Wind and mallet players perform two diatonic major scales plus the chromatic scale as specified in the All State Music Festival Handbook. Students then play a prepared piece from that year's Audition Selection List, unaccompanied; adjudicators may choose to hear only selected sections, so the whole piece must be prepared. A short sight-reading excerpt follows, with one minute of silent preparation and the tempo given before both the review and the performance. The year-specific Audition Selection List and the Handbook's per-instrument scale keys are separate documents and the 2026-27 versions are not posted.
Notes
The requirements/process page appears to be standing policy, but the All State Music Festival page still shows the 2025-26 cycle (January 10, 2026 auditions - January 10, 2026 was a Saturday, consistent with an audition day, whereas January 10, 2027 falls on a Sunday). No 2026-27 Audition Selection List or handbook is live and the site states no date for when it will post. Chorus is also part of the festival but is out of band scope.
