What the organization posted
Recorded audition uploaded through Festival Scores at $25 per audition, in three parts. First, the Set 4 scale sheet for the student's instrument, downloadable per instrument, performed from beginning to end without stopping - on the clarinet sheet the tempo is half note = 92, and the chromatic scale is slurred ascending and tongued descending. Second, the Set 4 etudes from NMEA's posted all-instrument etude document (a separate piano etude file exists). Third, an excerpt from the 2026 All-State Band repertoire, which is Big City Lights (Marie Douglas), Lord Tullamore (Carl Wittrock), Adoration (Florence Price, arr. Cheldon Williams), and Havana (Kevin Day). Eligibility and Festival Scores instructions are in the linked All-State Auditions Manual.
Notes
Set 4 scale sheets and the etude document were live and downloadable as of August 23, 2026, but the third component, the All-State Band music excerpt, was still labeled 'will be released in August' - check the page again before registration opens August 24, 2026. NMEA runs separate postings for All-State Jazz Band, All-State Orchestra, and choral ensembles.

What the organization posted
Recorded audition uploaded through Festival Scores at $25 per audition, consisting of Jazz Scales Set B and Etudes Set B for the student's instrument, all posted per instrument on the page. Each instrument has two etudes - Etude B-1 Swing Ballad and Etude B-2 Samba - with a downloadable play-along track for each, plus an instrument-specific Set B audition instruction sheet. Drummers also submit the auxiliary percussion audition excerpt; judges use the same pool to select primary drum set and secondary auxiliary percussion players.
Notes
Separate posting from the concert All-State Band, with its own scale and etude sets (Set B, not Set 4), but the same registration and upload calendar and the same $25 audition fee plus $25 participation fee per selected student.
